Cenote Samulá

Description

It is a semi open type cenote with a free fall, where one descends through a hole made in its side using a staircase made of stone. Upon entering you get to the first level where one can admire a spectacular view of the dome and the water body.

The water mirror is 35 meters long by 30 meters wide, with a depth ranging from 1 to 13.5 meters. One of its entrances is a big hole on the top center, where poplar tree roots hang and a sunlight beam enters at noon. For the clarity of its waters, you can admire the fish that live there. It is a site with good conditions for swimming due to its shallow depth.

It is managed by the Board of Units of Cultural and Tourist Services of the State of Yucatan (CULTUR) who cares for and maintains the quality of the tourist services by charging an entry fee. It is recommended to use life jackets, avoid using sunblocks and not littering inside and outside the water body.
