24 hours in the magical Valladolid

The Magic Town of Valladolid, located a couple of hours east of Merida, is not only an ideal place to explore some of the biggest tourist attractions in the Yucatan; it is in its own right a destination that is well worth enjoying, even if you only have one day to live its wonders. You will not believe how many surprises, places, great moments and incredible landscapes can fit in just 24 hours … Here’s the proof:

To start, you will go to Valladolid on the Mérida – Valladolid highway; You can take the highway or you can also go by free, visiting charming villages, passing through Chichen Itza until you reach the “Pearl of the East”.
7:00 am

You buy gasoline, water or take a coffee to take the road, it’s only an hour and a half if you need to arrive or two hours if you want to take it like the Yucatecans, lightly.

9:00 am

Once you have reached the beautiful Valladolid, the first thing is to eat cochinita in one of the many options that this Magical Town gives you or an absolutely incredible “torta de cochinita” in “El Bocadito” but the market certainly does not fail either.

10:00 am

You have an appointment at Casa de los Venados, it’s a colorful and very fun guided tour through one of the best collections of Mexican art in the country; remember to give a donation, the money goes to different organizations that help the people of the community …

Once finished your tour of the mythical Ek Balam, under the maya sun, the best thing to cool off are the ice creams that make even Valladolid richer you will find them both in the park of the mestiza and in multiple places around the historic center. We recommend going to taste the wabigelato

You can not miss visiting some of the beautiful cenotes of the area such as Samula … you will not believe it.

For something the longaniza is Valladolid, you can not miss this local delicacy … an excellent option for this is the Mesón del Marqués

Do not forget to visit the centenary Calzada de los Frailes with beautiful hostels and incredible shops, the architectural style of the colony and the relaxed and unique atmosphere that make Valladolid perfect, whether you go alone, with friends or accompanied by that ideal person …

The imposing church of San Servacio and the picturesque Main Square, its stands of local marquesitas and sweets are a must in your visit to Valladolid … You can do the tour in “La Chula”, the tourist bus of this Magical Town. You are going to have fun!

You can not miss a walk around “La Joyita” and have a super cold beer in an authentic vallisoletana canteen with its botanita included.

If so much activity and especially the swim made you very hungry, eat something to resist until dinner time … ideally for these cases is to go to La Cantina restaurant “La Maruja” for a longaniza cake … (this advice you will thank us)
